After all the talk of the summer transfer market, Celtic fans got to see what the team was all about in the opening game of the new season.
Celtic earned the win against St Mirren on Sunday, but there is no doubt that Stephen Robinson’s side made the champions of Scotland work for it.
It required a Luke McCowan deflected effort three minutes from time to seal the three points, but the performance is far from what the Celtic Park faithful want to see.
You sense, several players who started or featured in this game have question marks over their heads, and you even wonder whether or not they will be at the club on September 1.

Celtic urged to strengthen after win over St Mirren
Two areas require more quality and fresh legs, according to Charlie Mulgrew, and that’s ‘two wingers’ and a ‘striker.’
The former defender told BBC’s Sportscene that bringing in two wide players will allow Celtic to play Maeda down the middle.
Mulgrew also highlighted the issue with someone like James Forrest, even though he produced a strong display against St Mirren.
“There is no doubt about it, and I think today (St Mirren game), kind of highlights the fact that they need a striker,” said Mulgrew.
“They need wingers. They need two wingers, at least, because then you can move Maeda up front to be with Idah or instead of Idah. You then have those options up there.
“You definitely need wingers that are going to impact the game. James Forrest has come on and impacted the game, but he isn’t going to play 50 or 60 games in a season. You need wingers. Jota is injured and he won’t be back until next year.
“You need wingers who are going to have goal contributions. Brendan Rodgers has said in the past that he likes wingers who can score goals.”
Which Celtic players are under pressure?
The first one is Idah, because of the price tag over his head and the fact that he hasn’t been able to cement that striker spot.
This is despite Kyogo Furuhashi leaving in January, and Maeda being the one to score the goals during the second half of the last campaign, not the Irishman.
Then you have someone like winger Yang, who started against St Mirren, but was hauled off just after an hour, and it seems as though Forrest did more from the bench than the South Korean star.
