Celtic favourite Chris Sutton has congratulated the club on Twitter after a brilliant derby cup final win over Rangers at Hampden this afternoon.

The Hoops had to endure heavy pressure throughout the 90 minutes and played much of the second half with just ten men.

However, a glorious set-piece winner from Christopher Jullien and a stunning individual performance from Fraser Forster combined to sink Steven Gerrard’s team once again.

It wasn’t the greatest performance, far from it. Celtic though are winners and proved it again.

Sutton didn’t take long to note it was a ten-in-a-row triumph after his BT Sport commentary duties.

It wasn’t his only Forster tweet of the day either, with the pundit taking to social media at half to note his first-half performance too.

If anything his second 45 minutes were more impressive, the highlight coming when he stopped an Alfredo Morelos penalty that would have made the game all-square.

It’s truly going to go down as one of the greatest goalkeeping displays we’ll ever see as supporters and in a cup final no less.

BBC Scotland pundit Michael Stewart was also quick to praise Celtic, noting that Lennon’s side were pushed to the brink and victory is all the sweeter for it.

Stewart is right to note that Rangers have been left gutted. Midfielder Ryan Jack was spotted in tears leaving the pitch after they gave it all to try and best the Bhoys.

What kind of impact that will have on their form moving forward remains to be seen, but they’ll know they have lost a war at Hampden in a match that they probably should have won.

The scenes of celebration at Hampden have been fantastic watch, with the team lifting the trophy, saluting supporters and giving triumphant interviews to assembled media.

With a champagne party now underway in the dressing room, this is a win that will surely leave Celtic on a high for days and weeks to come.

What a day!
