Celtic’s 2-0 win over Cluj in the Europa League has to go down as one of the Hoops’ best performances of the season.

The team were in control for almost the entirely of the game, and looked a totally different side from the one which lost to Cluj in the Champions League qualifiers back in August.

As for the stand-out performer for the Hoops on the night, it has to be Odsonne Edouard. He opened the scoring for the Hoops, and caused Cluj problems from the first minute of the game to the last.

His performance certainly impressed Celtic legend Chris Sutton. Sutton took to Twitter following the game and used one word – ‘superb’ – to describe Edouard’s display.

“Brilliant performance from Celtic. Edouard all round performance superb” he said.

Edouard’s performance was even better when you consider that he was the only available striker for the Hoops for the fixture.

That would have been a concern to the Hoops staff and fans, especially if Edouard had picked up an injury. However, being the only available striker didn’t stop Edouard from giving it all in the game.

If Edouard keeps up his ‘superb’ form, then clubs will be keeping an eye on him, and some may even be preparing bids.

That is not a problem for now, though. All the Hoops can do is hope the player stays at the club for a few more seasons and helps the club make strides in Europe.
