Celtic put on a very impressive showing to beat RB Leipzig 3-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Brendan Rodgers has come under a lot of stick in recent times for how his teams perform in Europe, but you can’t argue about this performance.

This is up there with one of the best Celtic’s displays in the Champions League and it could have been more.

What’s even better is that the Bhoys went a goal down in the first half and they were under serious pressure after that Christoph Baumgartner goal.

But Nicolas Kuhn inspired Celtic to a comeback pretty much straight away by scoring a brace, including a stunning equaliser and then helping his team to a 2-1 lead at the break.

That’s when this Rodgers side showcased that they have taken the next step because, not only did they score another goal through Reo Hatate and perform like they had more in them.

But they also made sure to control the match at the right moments and defend with the ball.

Chris Sutton praises Auston Trusty, Nicolas Kuhn, Reo Hatate and Callum McGregor after Celtic beat RB Leipzig

Before a ball was kicked, Rodgers had some big calls to make regarding his starting XI, including who plays at left-back and centre-half.

In the end, Greg Taylor came in for Alex Valle, with Auston Trusty keeping his place in the Celtic XI and sitting alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Chris Sutton stated that Celtic’s performance was ‘one of the best displays’ he has seen from his former side in Europe’s elite competition.

And he rightfully gave flowers to Trusty, Kuhn, Hatate and McGregor for their performances, as he posted on Twitter.

“One of the best displays I’ve seen from a Celtic team in the Champions League,” said Sutton.

“A performance of real authority and class against a good Leipzig team. Trusty phenomenal again. Hatate, Kuhn, McGregor outstanding.”

Kuhn stats for Celtic against RB Leipzig

Kuhn is getting stronger and stronger in Celtic colours and has probably been his side’s best player this season.

His first goal was one of a thing of beauty and it started the team’s first-half comeback.

WhoScored rated Kuhn’s display at 8.79, with the January signing having 50 touches of the ball, including two very important goals.
