Chris Sutton slams ‘whinging’ Neil McCann for moaning at stoppage-time as Celtic beat Kilmarnock

The opposition loves to have a good moan whenever they play Celtic, and Sunday was no different against Kilmarnock, as the topic of stoppage-time was put on the table.

With Rangers hosting leaders Hearts in the later kick-off, this was Celtic’s chance to make a statement, and they did that in nerve-racking style.

Celtic beat Kilmarnock 3-2, after coming from 2-0 down, and Julian Araujo scored a 97th-minute winner to the disgust of opposition manager Neil McCann.

Only recently, McCann was working on Sky Sports, alongside Chris Sutton, and the former Celtic striker wanted to shut down the moaning around why there were seven minutes of added time at Rugby Park.

Chris Sutton defends seven minutes of stoppage time as Celtic best Kilmarnock

What’s interesting is that Sutton was on commentary for the match, and before the board could go up, he did suggest and predict a fair chunk of stoppage.

On social media, after hearing about McCann’s complaints, Sutton stated bluntly that it’s just critics ‘whinging’, and others who are just simply ‘jealous.’

The Killie boss stated, ‘I’m not quite sure where they got seven minutes from’, including how ‘they just make it up these days’, but Sutton didn’t hold back in his response.

“For all the whinging about the seven minutes added on at Kilmarnock,” wrote Sutton.

“Seven minutes was light in truth with the lengthy stoppages for Lyons and Thompson and all the subs… sour grapes springs to mind and jealousy…”

A message to Neil McCann…

The odd thing about all of this moaning from McCann is the fact that the game was still level at 2-2 when the stoppage time board went up.

So, whilst it’s understandable when the opposition moan at the added-on time, when they are winning the game, in this case, it makes no sense.

Killie still had the chance to win the match, and it’s not like they had sat back all throughout the game looking or searching for just a point.

They went at Celtic’s throats from the get-go, and nobody could argue that they deserved the 2-0 lead.

But clearly, Celtic showing they won’t let this title slip is hurting a lot of people, including former Rangers players.
