Celtic defender Christopher Jullien has come out of today’s defeat to Rangers as one of the only players consistently earning praise amongst some Celtic fans on social media.
The Frenchman will be as disappointed with the 2-1 loss at Celtic Park as much as anyone, failing to stop Steven Gerrard’s team pick up all three points.
However, on an individual basis, he was one of the only Hoops players to stick to his task well, which included closely marking Alfredo Morelos and stopping the Colombian from scoring against the Scottish champions yet again.
Jullien made some timely interventions and tackles throughout the 90 minutes and in an attacking sense looked a threat from set-pieces.
Sadly others in the team did not show as much determination as him, including his defensive partner Kristoffer Ajer, who looked totally unconvincing on the afternoon.
It’ll be interesting to see if Neil Lennon and his recruitment team feel the need to strengthen with a centre-back in January, perhaps allowing more rotation between defenders or at least providing greater depth in the position.
Beyond natural midfielder Nir Bitton, we really have no fit players available to come in and play at the standard required beyond Jullien and Ajer.

No doubt there are some supporters who did not rate Jullien at all today, but these fans saw him as one of our only decent performers, taking to Twitter to share their thoughts on his Sunday display…
