Christopher Jullien has regrets over Celtic draw versus Rennes

Celtic centre-back Christopher Jullien has been at the heart of the Hoops’ successful Europa League campaign. He scored the winning goal against Lazio at Celtic Park, which went a long way towards helping the Hoops reach the last 32 of the competition.

Despite Celtic’s excellent record in the group stages of the competition so far – three wins and a draw – Jullien feels that the Hoops could have a 100% record in the group. He is still disappointed that Celtic were held to a 1-1 draw with Rennes in their first game in the group stages.

The Hoops played well in the game, especially in coming from a goal down to get the point. However, Jullien feels that Celtic should have won the game, as he feels the Hoops are a better team than Rennes.

“I really believed”

“It’s not surprised me because even before we played them, I really believed that our team was better” he said, as reported by the Herald.

“We drew over in their home, but I really think we could have won it” was his verdict on the game. Results since then seem to back up Jullien’s point. The Hoops have qualified for the last 32 of the Europa League, whilst Rennes have been eliminated from the competition.

Celtic now have the chance to make up for the points they dropped in Rennes when they take on the French side at Celtic Park on Thursday.

Hoops won’t take a victory for granted

As Celtic are in a good run of form, they will be big favourites heading into the game. However, Neil Lennon won’t be taking anything for granted.

He will want to see Celtic keep up their momentum, which means three points against Rennes. Christopher Jullien sounds like he is expecting the Hoops to achieve the victory, but only time will tell. Neil Lennon would probably not be as bold, but it is a game that Celtic should be looking to win.
