When it comes to Celtic’s upcoming Europa League clash against Lazio, the game will be decided by battles all over the park.
There is one in particular that Celtic must win though, if they are to pick up the three points. That is the battle between Celtic centre-back Christopher Jullien, and Lazo’s in-form striker Ciro Immobile.
It has to be said that while Lazio have been inconsistent this season, but that hasn’t been the case for their star forward.
Played well for the most part
That is where Jullien will come in. He has for the most part done well for the Hoops since signing in the summer from Toulouse for £7 million.
However, he struggled against Lyndon Dykes in the recent 2-0 loss to Livingston. That is something he will not want to repeat against Lazio.
Jullien will be eager to show that he can compete against the very best, and Immobile is one of the best strikers around at the moment.
If Jullien can keep Immobile quiet, it would give the Hoops a great chance of winning the game. It would also show that Jullien has what it takes to play at a high level of the game.
Early battle could set the tone
An early battle between the players could set the tone for the game. If Jullien wins a header against Immobile for example, it could give the player plenty of confidence for the rest of the game.
This is probably going to be Jullien’s toughest test yet in a Celtic shirt. Neil Lennon will have confidence in his player that he will be able to handle the pressure.
After all, he excelled in Celtic’s win over Rangers last month. Immobile will provide a different test. It is one that Jullien must pass.
