Kyogo Furuhashi doesn’t look like he’ll have any problems settling into Celtic and continuing his fine goalscoring form from Japan.

Furuhashi was in dynamite form for Vissel Kobe this season prior to his Celtic move, scoring 16 goals in 22 appearances. [Transfermarkt]

A period of quarantine, as well as a move across the world to a new team, could have easily had an impact on that.

However, the Japanese talent is right in amongst the goals from his first Celtic start, netting a beauty away to Jablonec in the Europa League last night.

He controlled Nir Bitton’s pass expertly before deftly finishing past the opposition goalkeeper.

Now, he’s looking to make a Celtic Park impact on Sunday.

That was his message to supporters on Instagram last night, posting photos of the match and stating: “Thank everybody for support and confidence!
Next stop, Celtic Park.”

Then, in Japanese: “First start, first goal, team victory. I got the result, but I can still go! We will continue to contribute to the team without being satisfied with this!”

Kyogo Furuhashi almost certain to start for Celtic this weekend

Furuhashi is almost guaranteed to be a starter in the Scottish Premiership clash against the Dees.

After an opening day defeat to Hearts, a second successive victory is an absolute must in front of the biggest crowd at Celtic Park in nearly 17 months.

Ange Postecoglou has other decisions to make though. Will Furuhashi play through the middle again, or will Odsonne Edouard come back into the team with the new arrival on the left?

Personally, I’d like to see Furuhashi continue as our centre-forward. His movement gave the Jablonec a torrid time, opening up space for others to exploit. That could be crucial against a defensively-minded opponent on Sunday.

In other news, Jablonec boss Petr Rada continues mind games in earnest, says he fears Celtic Park.
