Celtic have been hit with a major injury concern ahead of next week’s Glasgow derby against Rangers. The Scottish Sun is reporting that Kieran Tierney is a doubt for the game after picking up a calf injury.

The player is set to miss Scotland’s tie against San Marino on Sunday as a result, and faces a battle to be fit for the game against Rangers.

The news is a blow to the player, who has struggled with injury issues this season. Most notable was a hip problem, which kept him out of action for more than two months.

Tierney returned to the side in February. However, he has looked tired in Celtic’s most recent games, including the 1-0 win over Dundee.

Manager’s view will be interesting

It will be interesting to see what Neil Lennon thinks of this news. He won’t be happy that the player has picked up an injury on international duty.

However, if the player wanted to play for Scotland, there’s not much Lennon could do about that. Although the warning signs were there when he couldn’t play against Kazakhstan on Thursday night.

From now until next Sunday, the Celtic medical staff will be working like clockwork to get Tierney fit for the Glasgow derby.

Although if the player is struggling, it is better not to risk him, in case he suffers a setback.
