Celtic have confirmed their starting line-up to take on Rennes in the pre-season friendly at Celtic Park. The team was recently announced on the club’s Twitter account.
The most notable news is that Christopher Jullien and Luca Connell make their Celtic debuts. There is also a first Celtic Park start since last year for Leigh Griffiths.
Chance to stake his claim at right-back

Anthony Ralston also starts, with a chance to stake his claim to be the Hoops right-back. It also good to see Ewan Henderson start the game, as he impressed in his performances at the end of last season.
It is no surprise to see Jonny Hayes start the game, as he will most likely start for the Hoops in the second leg of the Champions League qualifier against Sarajevo.

An important fixture
Friendlies aren’t usually important but this is one is more than most. It is the only pre-season friendly the Hoops have left to play this season.

Therefore, it could be a chance for some players to put themselves in the shop window for a start in the upcoming Champions League qualifiers.
Neil Lennon will be hoping for a positive result, but a good performance and no injuries are the most important thing.
Then all attention can turn to the Champions League clash against Sarajevo.
