Celtic’s opening day 4-2 win over Ross County at Parkhead got Brendan Rodgers’ SPFL campaign off to a winning start at the weekend.
A double from David Turnbull and goals from Kyogo Furuhashi and Matt O’Riley ensured the first three points of the season stayed at Celtic Park in what was, eventually, a comfortable performance by the Bhoys.
But on Sunday lunchtime, Brendan Rodgers‘ men face a much sterner test. An away tie at Aberdeen is always a tricky affair. The Hoops will be looking to negotiate this potential banana skin against a resurgent Dons side to keep their place at the top of the table.
And this morning, the SFA have announced the officials that will be in charge of the fixture against Barry Robson’s men.
Kevin Clancy has been appointed as the man in the middle. The last game he was in charge that involved Celtic was the 4-2 defeat at Hibs towards the end of last season where he sent off Daizen Maeda.
Assisting Clancy on the touchline is David McGeachie and Callum Spence. The fourth official is Graham Grainger. Running the VAR suite is Andrew Dallas who will also be assisted by Andrew McWilliam. [SFA]
The last time Celtic tasted defeat against the Dons was way back in season 2017/18 where we suffered a 1-0 defeat at home in May of that year.

At Pittodrie, you have to go as far back as March 2016 for the last time we lost up north. Goals from Johnny Hayes and Simon Church inflicted defeat on the then manager, Ronny Deila.
But since that defeat at Celtic Park in 2017, the Hoops have won all but three of every SPFL fixture against Aberdeen with three draws as the only blot on what would have been a perfect record against them. [Transfermarkt]
As I said, Aberdeen have found a new lease of life under Barry Robson recently and no matter who is in charge, Brendan Rodgers’ Bhoys will need to start sharper than they did against Ross County if they are to take the three points back down to Glasgow.
