Interim Celtic boss Neil Lennon wasn’t happy with some criticism that his team has faced in recent weeks.
He felt that a sense of entitlement has developed amongst the Celtic support. Now a future opponent has backed Lennon.
Craig Levein, whose Hearts side face Celtic in the league and then the Scottish Cup Final in the next eight days, believes that Lennon has done a good job for the Hoops since replacing Brendan Rodgers.
“Really good job”
“Neil has done a really good job for Celtic. And, if you look at his longevity, he was there for a long time as a player, and was very successful” he said, as reported by the Scotsman.
“This is his second spell as a manager and, again, he has been very successful.”
Whilst Levein’s comments are welcome, they are unlikely to change anyone mind about Lennon’s suitability to be the next Hoops manager.
Good and bad so far
Lennon has been unfairly criticised after doing the job he was brought in to do – win the league. However, it cannot be denied that performances have mostly been poor.
Will Levein’s comments play any part when it comes to Lennon getting the Celtic job on a permanent basis? No.
But it is interesting to see how other teams currently see the situation at Celtic. Ironically, Lennon’s future could depend on how he fares against Levein.
