Former Celtic boss Davie Hay has identified Odsonne Edouard as a player who could potentially be a Glasgow derby hero for the Hoops.

The French striker has been a match-winner for the Hoops against Rangers in the past. Hay would not be surprised to see history repeating.

The former Celtic manager believes that Edouard’s ‘quality’ can make him standout over his Rangers striking counterparts.

“I know that a lot of focus has been on the attacking arsenal at the disposal of Rangers for tomorrow’s game, but Edouard could well make all the difference with the quality that he has” Hay said, as reported by the Evening Times.

“There is no doubt that Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe are capable of finding the net, but Edouard’s quality marks him out as a potential match-winner for Celtic.”

Edouard’s most important goal so far for Celtic was probably scored at Ibrox. With the Hoops down to 10 men, he scored the winning goal in a 3-2 win in 2018 which all but clinched the league title.

If Edouard is on form, he is more than capable of turning in a match-winning performance. He has done it on more than one occasion in the past against Rangers.

However, it is not only his goals which are important to the team. It is his all-round game.

For example, his great pass set up James Forrest’s opening goal in the recent 4-1 win over AIK. If Edouard is on form, it could be a memorable day for Celtic at Ibrox.
