Auston Trusty is the last Celtic player standing at this summer’s World Cup.

On Sunday, as Trusty was preparing for the United States of America’s last-16 clash against Belgium on Tuesday morning, he was watching the drama unfold from Mexico City.

Ten-man England beat Mexico at the famous and historical Azteca stadium, in one of the greatest World Cup games of all time.

Even though Trusty is prepping for that Belgium match, the Celtic defender and his teammates could not take their eyes off the drama from Mexico’s capital.

Celtic supporters have debated football’s authorities for years. Is FIFA any different? Have your say below.

An hour delay because of the weather. Five goals. A sending off. Two penalties. This game had it all.

No wonder Trusty, who uploaded the following image to his Instagram story, was enthralled by what he was watching.

The Celtic defender wrote on his IG story, ‘this game is insane’, added with laughing emojis, as he was seemingly watching the game alongside his USMNT teammates.

Who stands in Trusty and USMNT’s way?

Over the weekend, Alistair Johnston’s Canada bowed out of the World Cup, and now they have been followed by Mexico.

It means that the USMNT is the last co-host nation standing.

However, the USA go into their game against Belgium with a cloud above their head after the call over Folarin Balogun’s red card.

Despite Balogun’s sending off against Bosnia and Herzegovina, FIFA opted against upholding an automatic one-match ban after a call from US President Donald Trump.

Hopefully, Belgium will put USMNT out of their misery and knock them out. But if they don’t, then either Portugal or Spain stand in their way for the quarter-finals.

Pre-tournament favourites France and Scotland’s slayers, Morocco, are also on the USMNT’s side of the draw.
