One thing seems to have forgotten about in the aftermath of Celtic’s recent 1-0 win over Dundee. The return of Filip Benkovic to the side.
Benkovic made his return as a second-half substitute, and was eventually pushed up-front as the Hoops searched for a winner.
Thankfully the winner came, thanks to Odsonne Edouard’s injury time strike. Overall though, the return of Benkovic could be as important to Celtic as Edouard’s goal.

Sorely missed
The defender has been sorely missed since suffering an ankle injury in January. However, his return has come at just the right time.

The Hoops face some big matches in the weeks ahead. A league match against Rangers, and Scottish Cup tie against Aberdeen which will define the quest for a third successive domestic treble.
Vitally important

It is vitally important that the Hoops have their best players available for those games. That is why the return of Benkovic is such a boost for the Bhoys.
It will be interesting to see if Neil Lennon partners Benkovic with Dedryck Boyata. Boyata missed the game against Dundee, and Kristoffer Ajer has done well since coming into the side.
However, former boss Brendan Rodgers picked Benkovic and Boyata as his first-choice defence. It would not be a shock to see Lennon do the same.
Benkovic might have made an unheralded return to the side. But he will be a key man for the Hoops in the weeks to come.
