Former Celtic boss Davie Hay has been reflecting on the Hoops’ recent 2-0 Glasgow derby win over Rangers at Ibrox.

Hay was full of praise for a decision make by Neil Lennon in the second-half. The Hoops manager brought on Olivier Ntcham as a substitute, and Hay feels that decision had a big impact on the game.

“One aspect of Neil Lennon’s Old Firm tactics that has been overlooked a little was the timing of his introduction of Olivier Ntcham to proceedings” Hay said, as reported by the Evening Times.

“Not a more talented midfielder”

“The Frenchman was superb when he came on, and showed once again that when he is in the mood, there is probably not a more talented midfield player in the country.”

Ntcham certainly played a key role when he came on. His pass helped set up Jonny Hayes for the second goal which clinched the win for the Hoops.

Lennon deserves credit for bringing Ntcham on and helping the Hoops maintain their control of the game.

Performance underlined how good player can be

It may only have been a cameo performance, but has Hay says it underlines how good a player Ntcham can be. Perhaps he will be back in the Celtic side for the game against Hamilton on Saturday.

He has only started one game for the Hoops since the Champions League loss to Cluj. However, his performance against Rangers showed how influential he can be for the team.

Neil Lennon must be tempted to give the player a regular run in the first-team.
