Greg Taylor should be handed Celtic debut against Livingston

Celtic’s recent signing from Kilmarnock, Greg Taylor, has been unfortunate not to feature for the club so far. No doubt he can’t wait to make his debut for the first-team.

He has been at the club for around a month, and as yet the opportunity hasn’t arisen for the player to get out on the pitch in the famous green and white Hoops.

However, an upcoming fixture looks like the ideal opportunity for Taylor to make now only his Celtic debut, but his first start for the club.

That game is Sunday’s Premiership trip to Livingston. Livingston have an artificial pitch, which the Hoops struggled on when they visited the Tony Macaroni Arena last season.

Therefore, it makes sense to start Taylor on a surface that he is used to. During his time at Kilmarnock, Taylor played on a similar surface almost every week at Rugby Park.

Another reason it makes sense to start Taylor is that he is unlikely to start the Europa League game against Cluj. Boli Bolingoli will more than likely get the nod from manager Neil Lennon to start the game.

As a result. Taylor should be fresh for the match against Livingston. Neil Lennon may not want to make that many changes for the game against Livingston.

The Hoops need to get back to winning ways in the league after the recent draw against Hibs. You would imagine that a very strong side will be selected to face Livingston. However, it will make sense to make at least a few changes to the starting line-up for what could be a tough fixture.

One of those changes should see Taylor start his first game for the Hoops. Should that be the case, hopefully it is the start of what will be a successful career for the player at Celtic Park.
