A great end to the week for Brendan Rodgers and the Celtic boys after the disappointment of Europe.

Celtic didn’t make it look easy against St Johnstone, who for large parts of the game, were 1-0 up and looking like they were going to cause an upset.

The Bhoys turned up the heat in the second half, including a brilliant performance from the bench by Mikey Johnston

Just like against Lazio in the Champions League, he looked impressive from the bench, this time guiding the team to all three points.

Mikey Johnston didn’t get on the scoresheet, but his performance deserved it, as he showcased no fear when running at the St Johnstone backline and attacking their penalty box.

Nonetheless, the 24-year-old took to Instagram after the match, with several of his teammates, including Gustaf Lagerbielke, praising him in the comments section.

Celtic’s centre-back capture from the summer, Gustaf Lagerbielke, labelled Mikey Johnston a ‘baller’, whilst Alistair Johnston added ‘Welcome back lil bro’ and Marco Tilio stated ‘bravo brother’ added with a clapping emoji.

Mikey Johnston to start for Celtic against Hibs?

His last two performances are deserving of it. Plus, summer signing Hyunjun Yang is producing mixed results so far.

It’s nothing to worry about for the South Korean star because he is still new to the scene and only 21.

But he is still learning his way into Brendan Rodgers’ system, whilst Johnston already knows his way around the place.

Either way, he is talking enough on the ball to warrant a start against Hibernian on Wednesday night.
