Celtic fans were left impressed by David Turnbull after he got his first full half of action since joining the club from Motherwell.

The 21-year-old was brought on at the interval against Hibernian for the injured Ryan Christie.

It wasn’t his debut but it was his first real chance to impress following short substitute cameos against Ross County and Livingston.

He looked entirely at ease with being part of this talented group.

The Scotland U21 international was attempting creative passes, showing attacking urgency and delivering deadly set-pieces into the box.

The midfielder also provided a quality assist for Mohamed Elyounoussi to score.

Obviously, it’s still very early days and to be truly effective at Celtic consistency is crucial.

However, on this showing, he should definitely be a contender to start matches this season and hopefully, that’s exactly what happens over the coming weeks.

Celtic have been crying out for a new presence in the middle of the park to create new combinations and ideas.

Having waited over a year for his signature and paying a good chunk of money for his services, the youngster looks capable of living up to the hype.

Lennon stated this weekend that the player is still fitting into the way Celtic play and that fans must have patience when it comes to expectations but there will be a clamouring for him to feature more regularly now.
