“The Livingston players are furious. They’re surrounding the referee and he’s booking a couple of their players. You can understand Livingston’s disappointment.

“You can understand their anger, but it’s joy mixed with relief here at Celtic Park, and it’s thanks to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, the super sub coming on and getting the goal that put Livingston away.”

Martin O’Neill hails new Celtic Bhoy Oxlade-Chamberlain

Martin O’Neill was delighted with the late Celtic winner as the Hoops boss heaped praise on Oxlade-Chamberlain’s fairytale debut.

O’Neill said, “Well, it was a late again for us, but in all honesty, we should have been three up, four up in the first 15 minutes of the game.

“We get one, and it’s never enough. It’s never enough. And we allow them back into the game with a penalty kick.

“And then, you know, we’re driving and driving and driving looks as if you know might not happen, then Alex comes up with a wonder goal.

“Wonder goal from someone who has been a very special player.”
