South Korean striker Hyeongyu Oh scored his first goal for Celtic on Saturday and promptly thanked supporters, teammates and coaching staff for making it possible on social media.
Oh was the quickest to react to a saved Callum McGregor shot on goal towards the end of yesterday’s 5-1 victory over the Buddies, firing home before wheeling away in delight.
Later, on Instagram, he said: “Thank you for your support! I was able to score this goal thanks to the fans, the manager, all the team staff and teammates. I will do my best to score as many as possible in future. Thank you.”
Hyeongyu Oh making a positive first impression at Celtic
It’s hard to make any definitive verdicts on Oh so far at Celtic – he’s only been given a handful of minutes to show what he can do off the bench. However, the initial signs are positive.
The 21-year-old is strong but agile, both quick with raw pace and also at reading situations or reacting to the ball. He’s showing the kind of attributes you want in a striker.
That he has managed to get his first goal for the club already is a significant event. It should fill him with even more confidence and allow him to push for more opportunities in the team
Ange Postecoglou made it clear in his post-match comments he still has a long way to go to get up to the levels needed to be a true force for Celtic but that’s a good thing.
A player realising his potential with the Bhoys over time should be exciting. Everyone is eager to see that journey and Oh comes across as a motivated individual ready for it!
