If fit, Mohamed Elyounoussi could provide cup final spark for Celtic
Celtic’s Mohamed Elyounoussi has been in terrific form since joining the Hoops from Southampton on loan in August. He has scored seven goals in his brief time with the club, which is an excellent record for an attacking midfielder.
He has added an extra attacking dimension to the Celtic side, which is currently in an excellent run of form, with 10 wins in a row in all competitions.
Missed last few games with injury
Unfortunately for the player, he has missed the last few games with a foot injury. It is important that he is back in the side for the upcoming Betfred Cup Final against Rangers though. He could provide the Hoops with the spark that drives the Hoops onto victory.
For him to be involved in the cup final though, he will need to feature against Hamilton on Wednesday night, you would think.
Celtic fans will be eagerly listening to the press conference before the Hamilton game to find out any injury updates on the player’s fitness. Hopefully the news is positive.
If he can play a part against Hamilton, then Elyounoussi should be given the nod to start in the cup final. He is that important to the side.
Didn’t play in first derby of the season
Interestingly, he has not played against Rangers yet for the Hoops. He was signed too late to feature in the Hoops’ 2-0 win at Ibrox in September. He could provide the Ibrox side with a problem they have yet to fact this season, as they have not come up against the player.
That could be a significant factor in helping Celtic win the first domestic trophy of the season. First though, Elyounoussi has to prove that he is fit enough to feature against Hamilton. Even if he makes the bench, that could be a good sign about his chances of playing in the first domestic cup final of the season.
