Ahead of the international break for Celtic, the Hoops Instagram account revealed a list of the players that will be heading off on international duty.
Two of the players featured on the list were Odsonne Edouard- who was selected for the French under-21 side, and Vakoun Issouf Bayo, who was selected for the Ivory Coast under-23 side.
The two players will not do much training with the first-team when they return from international duty. Therefore, there could be a doubt over either player starting against Hamilton on Saturday lunchtime.
Rare start for striker?
In that case, perhaps Leigh Griffiths could make a rare start for the Hoops this season. Griffiths has made only three starts for the Hoops so far this season.
The last start in the league was against Motherwell, where Griffiths found the back of the net for the Hoops in a 5-2 win.
So there is no doubt that Griffiths will be able to deputise for either Edouard or Bayo, if they don’t feature in the game.
Griffiths’ lack of appearances for the Hoops in recent weeks has led him to almost be the third choice striker at the club, behind Edouard and Bayo.
However, should he start and put on a match-winning display then he could be in contention to start for the Hoops more often.
Good problem for Hoops boss
In a way, it is a good problem for Neil Lennon to have. Griffiths has already shown this season that he is still a good goalscorer – he has three goals so far.
Edouard has been in superb form this season. Bayo played well in his one start against Hearts, and was unfortunate not to be credited with two goals.
Having three strikers eager to play can only be a good thing for Neil Lennon and Celtic. Perhaps we will see Griffiths get his chance for the Hoops against Hamilton.
