Celtic attacker James Forrest has admitted that the Hoops have not lived up to their high expectations recently.

Forrest, who seems certain to be a candidate for Scotland’s player of the year after a season with 17 goals and 20 assists, has revealed that the team aren’t happy with their most recent performances.

The Hoops’ last two league games have seen the side draw 0-0 with Livingston and Hibs. Forrest has disclosed that the team need to improve, starting on Saturday against Kilmarnock.

“The last two games in the league have been 0-0 draws, and we haven’t done enough in either game to get the win” he told the Scottish Sun.

“So on Saturday we have to go out and put on a performance for the three points.”

Candid comments are refreshing

It is good to see a player be so candid about his team’s failings. Celtic have been poor in recent weeks in the league. It is a good sign that Forrest has recognised this.

He knows that the team has to perform better in order to get the league title won. And Forrest is more than capable of turning in a display that will ensure that the Hoops pick up the three points against Kilmarnock.

Of course, he will need help on the day from his team-mates. Forrest can’t do it all on his own.

But the fact that the players know they must do better is encouraging. It would not be surprising to see the Hoops turn in a fine display against Kilmarnock.
