Celtic defender Christopher Jullien has taken to Instagram this evening to share his delight with defensive partner Kristoffer Ajer after today’s important 2-1 win over Aberdeen.
He said, alongside a picture of the duo celebrating: “A tough win is still a good win. What an ice cold finish my bro.”
Ajer at times didn’t look comfortable defensively during the encounter but a switch to right-back in the second half gave him more freedom to stretch his legs up the pitch.
It was this attacking ambition that ensured he was in the right place at the right time to latch onto James Forrest’s delicious ball and fire home late in the match to secure our 2-1 win.
It was a finish that most strikers would be proud of, so for it to come from a centre-half was a stunning turn of evens and yes, ‘ice cold’, as the big Frenchman notes.
Clearly Celtic are not going to play at their peak capabilities in every match throughout the season, not least in matches away from home against a top-six opponent in blustery and stormy conditions.
What it’s about on occasions like today is our biggest players taking their chances and performing in critical moments, if not across a whole 90 minutes.
Ajer certainly did that today and didn’t let his team or supporters down when it mattered most.
He deserves the plaudits for that whether they come from his defensive teammate or the wider fanbase.
Well in Kris!
