Neil Lennon’s team selection for Celtic’s Betfred Cup clash against Dunfermline is probably the most intriguing aspect of the game.
The Hoops boss is bound to make some changes to his side following the Champions League exit to Cluj. There is one player who has not featured so far this season, that must start against the Championship side.
That player is the Hoops’ exciting prospect, Karamoko Dembele.
Made debut last season
Lennon showed last season that he wasn’t afraid to give the youngster a chance. The attacker, who is 16, made his debut in the final league game of the season, a 2-1 win over Hearts.
Despite his age, Dembele didn’t look out of place in the side at all. Hoops fans need something to cheer about following the loss to Cluj.
A player like Dembele is more than capable of getting the fans on their feet. If Dembele is able to play well against a Premiership side, you imagine that he must be able to do similar against a Championship side.
No pressure on player to perform
There will be no pressure on him to perform against Dunfermline. He can just play his natural game, and hopefully lead the Hoops to victory.
Who knows, perhaps a good display on the day will encourage Neil Lennon to use him more often as the season progresses. He has shown in his cameos so far that he belongs in the first-team.
