Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi is the name on every Hoops supporter’s lips after a massive moment for the football club against Ferencvaros this afternoon.
Kyogo’s goal would prove to be the first in a crucial 2-0 win over the Hungarian champions. However, the goal itself, which is Furuhashi’s 9th of the season, was of epic proportions in terms of the quality involved.

Jota sprayed a superb pass that travelled almost the full length of the pitch to play Kyogo in. And despite it being his only real sniff of goal throughout the 90 minutes, the Japanese international stuck it away with confidence.
For Celtic supporters, it was important to see just how clinical Kyogo can be when given the opportunity. Considering some of the misses he’s had in the early stages of his Celtic career, it’s reassuring to know he only needed one opportunity this afternoon.
The result ensures Celtic move clear in 3rd place in their Europa League group ahead of the return game in Hungary in 2 weeks’ time. It throws Ange Postecoglou’s men right into contention for last-32 qualification also.
Kyogo Furuhashi turns it on against Ferencvaros
Celtic needed their Japanese star to turn on the style when it mattered most. Goodness knows how the game would’ve gone had he missed that big opportunity.
It’s also big for the Celtic support that they see Kyogo performing on the European stage also. With the vast majority of his efforts coming domestically, seeing him be the difference-maker in the Europa League is another promising sign.
Granted, Celtic’s attacking threats were all over the final third in the second 45. Jota managed yet another couple of assists whilst David Turnbull started making more advancing runs into the penalty area.
But even so, Kyogo will rightfully take the credit for popping up with a piece of quality right when it was needed.
And it’s something the supporters were keen to highlight as they lavished praise on the summer signing from Vissel Kobe:
