Kyogo Furuhashi has been at Celtic for less than 48 hours and already he is willing to take responsibility for what’s going wrong.

The new signing made his debut in a 2-1 defeat to Hearts last night, which was clearly a difficult moment for supporters.

After the game, Furuhahshi addressed the disappointment on Instagram, stating: “New beginning… I will give my best to bring victories for the club and fans.”

Then, in Japanese, he continued: “The Scottish Premiership debut was a disappointing result, both as a team and as an individual. We will do our best to adapt quickly and contribute to the team with the results.”

Obviously, Furuhashi can’t take much blame at all for last night’s defeat. He only came into the match with 11 minutes to go. Even that was a tough ask considering he only joined up with the squad in the morning.

The Japanese international’s chance to shine will come. Bigger opportunities are just around the corner.

The attacker will likely play his first UEFA Europa League match on Thursday night away to Jablonec. It would be no surprise to see him start the match.

Then he has a home debut to look forward to against Dundee in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.

Those two matches will offer a far better indicator to supporters about what is in store with Furuhashi is in the team.

It can’t be stressed enough, we really need him to hit the ground running.
