Gustaf Lagerbielke thinks Hyeongyu Oh was ‘Man of the Match’ as Celtic came from a goal down to beat St Mirren 2-1 at Parkhead on Wednesday night.
After seven minutes, St Mirren, who are sitting third in the Premiership table, opened the scoring through Conor McMenamin – Greg Taylor ‘wasn’t happy’ with Liam Scales.
It didn’t take Celtic long to equalise through David Turnbull, with Brendan Rodgers making several changes from the dropped points at Hibernian last time out.
Hyeongyu Oh remained on the bench, as the 22-year-old searched for his first goal of the campaign and it came in fine, fine style.
The South Korean star posted on his Instagram ‘believe in yourself’, with an image of the striker celebrating his winning goal yesterday.
In the comments section of Hyeongyu Oh’s post, Gustaf Lagerbielke simply wrote ‘MOTM (Man of the Match)’, whilst fans and other teammates alike raved about him, including calling him a ‘monster’.
Oh wins it for Celtic against St Mirren
Much-needed goal for Oh
It’s a difficult role he is playing because he is effectively playing second-fiddle to the main man, Kyogo Furuhashi and that will remain the case.
Therefore, he is being asked to deliver when handed a small window to prove himself and he did it in style last night.
That first touch and finish was out of this world. He should no signs of being rusty, the fact that he has hardly played or scored.
Either way, with that Champions League tie looming next week in Spain and Ross County coming up at the weekend, it will be interesting to see if Rodgers brings Oh into the XI on Saturday because this is the chance to do so.
