Martin O’Neill has clarified his team selection for Celtic against Dundee United this afternoon.

The two main headlines are the return of Kelechi Iheanacho – given his first start since the Wilfried Nancy days – and Benjamin Arthur retaining his spot in the starting XI.

Celtic’s season is moving ever closer to the run-in, and today’s selection is a telling insight into O’Neill’s thinking ahead of the rest of the campaign.

O’Neill told BBC Sportsound: “Yeah, Tomas [Cvancara] has been ill all week.

“He trained yesterday, wasn’t feeling great, so there was no point. And let’s see…

“Iheanacho, I think he had hamstring problems before. But now, in that aspect he has done very very well in training.

“And, you know, let’s go and see. He might not last the game, but let’s go and see.”

Iheanacho joined Celtic on a one-year deal, expecting to link back up with Brendan Rodgers, who he worked with at Leicester.

That feels like awfully long ago…

Arthur, on the other hand, makes his fifth Celtic appearance after joining on loan from Brentford in January.

Trusty has served a lengthy suspension after a red card against Hibs, the same game in which Arthur made his debut.
