Celtic fans will be relieved as opposed to thrilled after their side recorded a narrow 1-0 victory over Ross County at Parkhead on Saturday.
Alistair Johnston’s effort in the early stages took a heavy ricochet before eventually nestling in George Wickens’ goal, which ended up being the deciding action of the affair as the Hoops moved five points clear at the Scottish Premiership summit.
Nevertheless, Luis Palma could’ve made the day a little more comfortable had he converted from the penalty spot on 28 minutes.
However, the visiting goalkeeper thwarted him twice from 12 yards after the referee decided to rule his initial effort out due to encroachment in the area.
Sometimes, things just aren’t destined to go your way, though Brendan Rodgers has indicated that he may look to find an alternative penalty taker to the Honduran between now and the next time one comes around.
Despite the air of dissatisfaction from some quarters following yesterday’s events, it is important to remember that the Bhoys aren’t always going to fire at full tilt and will sometimes need to grind out results.
On the flip side, Celtic face Aberdeen, Hibernian and St Mirren next in quick succession away from home and will need to improve their level of performance.
Matt O’Riley sends message to Celtic teammate Luis Palma
In the modern day, social media posts after a game have become the norm for many players to express their feelings or gratitude towards supporters and teammates following a win, draw or loss.
Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley has chosen to send a message of support to his teammate Palma after his penalty misfortune.
On Palma’s own Instagram, he posted a story pictured with the Denmark international, who then reshared to his story with the caption ‘contigo siempre’, which translates as ‘with you always’ in English.

Encouragingly, it seems as if the two men in question seem to have each other’s back, which can only be a good thing in the Parkhead dressing room.
The former will learn from his mistake, and hopefully, Palma and O’Riley can continue to be big players for Celtic in the second half of 2023/24.
