Is anyone surprised? Probably not. But Matt O’Riley was at it again for Celtic on Wednesday.
Whether it’s the Champions League or in the Scottish Premiership, the guy just oozes class anywhere and wherever he plays.
And on Wednesday, Matt O’Riley probably produced his moment of the season after he assisted Gustaf Lagerbielke for Celtic’s winning goal against Feyenoord.
Neil Lennon stated that he has been ‘unbelievable’ this season and ‘probably the best player in Scotland’, as he told TNT Sports (13/12/23 at 10:15 pm).
Probably the best player in Scotland? He is the best player in Scotland. Full stop.
Not only is Matt O’Riley singing and dancing on the domestic stage, but he also has three assists in the Champions League. That says a lot about his qualities
The first touch, calmness under pressure and ability to dink that ball into the far corner for Gustaf Lagerbielke to head home was a thing of beauty.
It’s what sets the 23-year-old out from others, that calmness on the ball and Neil Lennon loved every bit of it.
Celtic beat Feyenoord
“He has been unbelievable this season,” said Lennon. “I think that’s his third assist now in the campaign.
“Domestically, he has been scoring nearly every week. Goals and assists. He has been an outstanding player for Celtic this year and probably the best player in Scotland.
“That was a piece of class (assist for the winning goal). That was real genuine quality there.”

FINALLY… A win in the Champions League!
This has been a long time coming and now the club has the monkey off their back.
This win should have come a lot earlier because the performances were deserving of it.
Whilst it’s still disappointing that the team finished rock bottom. That is more points than last season and an improvement from what Ange Postecoglou did.
Now it’s a case of building on it and going again next season, with Rodgers needing to add quality via the transfer market, in order to take the squad to the next level.
