It’s safe to say that Celtic didn’t turn in their best performance against Aberdeen. The Hoops were held to a 0-0 draw, in a match of few chances.
Interim manager Neil Lennon didn’t think the performance was that great. He told the Celtic Twitter account that the performance was ‘ok’. He then went on to claim that the players were ‘flat’ and ‘leggy’.
That admission is a bit worrying, especially as we are coming towards the business end of the season. Now is the time that the Hoops should be firing on all cylinders, and on the way to the title. The performance against Aberdeen was the opposite of that.
Injuries are hurting
It has to be said though, that injuries are hurting the Hoops side. The likes of Callum McGregor, Tom Rogic and Ryan Chrsitie were all missing against Aberdeen.
Even having one of those players available would have made a difference in breaking down a stuffy Dons side.
Players need a break
On the plus side for the Hoops, some ‘leggy’ players will get a rest after next week’s game against Dundee. It’s an international break and obviously Lennon feels that some players go do with the benefit of a break.
Overall though, it is disappointing that the Hoops failed to go 10 points clear at the top of the league. Lennon will be aware of that more than anyone.
