Neil Lennon gives players well earned day off; Celtic post footage

What a wonderful day for Celtic Football Club.

Inspired by an incredible goalkeeping performance from Fraser Forster, the Bhoys picked up a 10th successive domestic trophy against our rivals Rangers at Hampden.

That was despite being on the back foot for the majority of the match, with Steven Gerrard’s side forcing Forster into a number of stupendous saves. That even included stopping a penalty from Ibrox top scorer Alfredo Morelos.

Also playing much of the second half with just ten men, the 1-0 victory was very, very well earned.

Neil Lennon’s team showed a different side to them today, compared to some of the attacking, free-flowing performances so far this season. The efforts mean that Lennon has now given his team the day off on Monday.

He delivered the news in the Hampden dressing room, with Celtic posting the footage to Twitter, which you can see below.

It shows a tremendous reaction from the players to the reward and is one of the more heartwarming images from the day.

The tweet is quickly racking up thousands of retweets, likes and comments – a post that’s undoubtedly a massive win for the Hoops media team documenting the action.

Of course, the team can’t get too wild with their celebrations. There’s a trip to Romania to contend with this Thursday before a big match at home to Hibernian next Sunday.

Hopefully though they have a fantastic night and enjoy their bonus time off. They’ve earned it in my book.
