Neil Lennon has revealed what he will tell his Celtic players before kick-off in the second leg of the Europa League play-off against AIK.

Should the Hoops players pay heed to what he says, it could be a good night in Europe for Celtic.

“Be mindful, be wary, try to start the game well, and try to get control of the game” Lennon suggested, on a video on Celtic’s YouTube channel.

Starting the game well will be key for the Hoops. They looked comfortable in the first leg of the tie, and have a 2-0 lead. However, one early goal for AIK could change everything.

That ties in with Lennon’s comments that the Hoops need to be ‘wary’. Celtic do have better players than AIK, as was shown in the first leg of the tie.

However, it can be argued that the Hoops have better players than Cluj, and that didn’t prevent Celtic from losing to them.

A big game for the club

It is a big game for Celtic. It would be a catastrophe for the club if they exited two European competitions early in the season.

Hopefully lessons have been learned from the defeat to Cluj. Should the players listen to Lennon’s advice, the Hoops should be in the draw for the group stages on Friday.

If they don’t pay heed to the Hoops boss though, it could be a difficult night for Celtic in Sweden.
