Celtic boss Neil Lennon has potential good news on the injury front ahead of the Europa League match against Rennes on Thursday.

The Hoops boss believes that the centre-back duo of Christopher Jullien and Kristoffer Ajer will be available for the game despite both suffering injury concerns in Celtic’s 1-0 win over Hamilton.

Jullien suffered a head knock, and Ajer took a kick, but both seem to be ok according to Lennon.

“He will be checked out but I think he’s absolutely fine” Lennon said, as reported by BBC Sport regarding Jullien.

He then discussed Ajer’s injury.

“Kris took a whack, but we’re okay thankfully, a few niggles here and there but nothing serious.”

Celtic will be pleased if Jullien is available for the game. He has played very well for the Hoops in his last few appearances.

Likewise, Ajer has done very well for the Hoops this season. It would be unfortunate for the Hoops if he picked up another injury just after removing from his recent groin injury.

Partnership is just starting to develop

The partnership of Jullien and Ajer is just starting to develop. It would be an irritation for Lennon if it was to get broken up after the game.

It will be a difficult enough game for the Hoops without having to make more defensive changes. Thankfully the Celtic manager seems confident that both Ajer and Jullien will make the first Europa League group stage again.

That would be a considerable bonus for the club, and give the team confidence for the trip to France.
