Neil Lennon is philosophical after Celtic draw with Hibernian

Neil Lennon wasn’t too critical of his players as Celtic’s 100% league record came to an end. The Hoops were held to a 1-1 draw by Hibernian at Easter Road despite dominating large parts of the game.

Despite the draw, Lennon was philosophical after the game.

“I’m not frustrated. We’re not going to win every game. We’re not going to blow teams away in every game” Lennon told the Celtic Twitter account following the game.

“There’s an expectation but I don’t always expect us to win. I believe we can and I want us to win.”

To be fair to the Hoops, they may have won the game had they been awarded what looked to be two clear cut penalties, but they weren’t awarded. The lack of chances that the Hoops created in the second-half has to be a bit of a disappointment to the Celtic manager though.

Hoops still top of the league table

Still, it is easy to see why Lennon isn’t being too critical of his players. The Hoops will still end this weekend top of the Premiership table. It is the first points the team have dropped in the league this season.

It should also be taken into account that the Hoops’ recent league record at Easter Road isn’t great. Celtic have not won at Easter Road in the league since 2014.

Now Celtic will move on to the Europa League clash against Cluj, and a chance for revenge against the team that knocked the Hoops out of the Champions League.

Three points in that game, and the dropped points against Hibs all but forgotten about.
