Celtic manager Neil Lennon has announced his starting eleven to face Rangers at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership today, as per celtifc.net.

The full match squad is as follows:

Starting XI – Forster; Frimpong, Jullien, Ajer, Bolingoli; Brown, McGregor, Forrest, Christie, Johnston; Edouard.

Substitutes – Gordon, Bitton, Griffiths, Bauer, Hayes, Rogic, Ntcham.

Given the magnitude of the fixture and the importance of the three points, it’s pleasing to see the boss name such a strong team.

Odsonne Edouard is a notable change compared to the last meeting between the two sides at Hampden, who starts in attack supported by James Forrest, Mikey Johnston and Ryan Christie.

The selection of Johnston comes after he signed a new five-year deal this week and should ensure that both Forrest and Christie are played in their natural positions.

Elsewhere it’s a familiar-looking team and by starting both Jeremie Frimpong and Boli Bolingoli, Lennon is sending a message that we’re out to attack our visitors this afternoon.

A win today would send the Bhoys eight points clear at the top of the table heading into the winter break. A gap like that, even taking into account Rangers’ game in hand, would be incredibly difficult to close in the second half of the season.

There’s plenty of work ahead before the players can enjoy the sweet taste of derby success. They need to play far better than in the League Cup final or risk a poor result.

However, backed by a passionate home crowd and with something of a point to prove performance-wise, I have every hope that Scott Brown and his men are going to be right up for it today.
