Neil McCann criticises Celtic star who has ‘never been so bad’ at one thing in Rangers clash first-half

Celtic had a miserable first-half in their Glasgow derby clash with Rangers this afternoon.

The Hoops gave possession away far too often and lacked creativity at Ibrox in front of what is a packed out home crowd.

Kyogo had a half-chance within 72 seconds when the ball just would not sit for him inside the six-yard box from a decent set-piece delivery.

Ianis Hagi would then give the hosts what must be said was a deserved lead before Vaclav Cerny hit the crossbar, but Celts were devoid of ambition in attacking areas.

Sky Sports pundit Neil McCann was one who spotted exactly that in a “flat” first 45 according to fellow commentator Chris Sutton.

McCann says Reo Hatate’s distribution has ‘never been so bad’

But the former Gers winger also highlighted one player in particular who had a torrid first-half where nothing went right for him whatsoever.

McCann accused midfielder Reo Hatate of performing poorly as he insisted he had never seen the Japanese international’s passing as poor as it was before the break.

Hatate’s concession of the ball happened far too often and McCann reckons it was the worst he’d ever seen.

“I have never seen Reo Hatate’s distribution so bad,” McCann said on the TV after the player had given it away again at the edge of his own box.

Rangers lead Celtic 1-0 at half-time

“Rangers have turned it over more than once, but it has bever been so bad from him.”

Hatate also had a somewhat decent opportunity inside the area when he was given the ball.

Rather than leave it for Kyogo who was just behind his teammate, Hatate opted to take it in his stride before eventually losing his feeting and ultimately control of the ball.

Brendan Rodgers will surely give the squad a rollicking inside the changing room at the break as the manager was visibly frustrated at numerous points during the first-half.
