Celtic have picked up three points in Scottish Premiership for the third consecutive match with a comfortable 2-0 win over St Johnstone.
The win moves Celtic to within one point of Rangers, who play tomorrow.
Today’s result at Celtic Park was never really in doubt, with a number of positives to take from the 90 minutes. This is what we learned from a fine day’s work.

Defensive recycle much improved
Celtic’s possession-based style has taken time for some players to get used to, not least the trio of Joe Hart, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt.
They looked pretty shaky on the ball in their early appearances but are now building a solid unit both in a defensive sense and recycling the ball into midfield.
All three look far more composed in possession and finding midfield teammates. Carter-Vickers and Starfelt are now even moving into the opposition half more frequently to move the ball into wide areas.
Celtic are far from perfect, but you really can see improvement from match to match and week to week.
Instant Giorgos Giakoumakis impact
It was fantastic to see new Bhoy Giorgos Giakoumakis get in on the scoring act and stick away Anthony Ralston’s low cross.
The Greek international was well placed in the box and rocketed his finish into the back of the net, proving he can be the physical poaching presence that Celtic will need at times this season.
He’s not as dynamic with his movement as Kyogo, but he holds the ball up well and gives Celtic a good threat in a variety of in box situations.
With fitness still building, hopes are high for the striker.

Mikey Johnston is ready to play more
Johnston was again impressive coming off the bench after his cameo mid-week against Ferencvaros. This afternoon he got a full half hour to show his stuff. He certainly made an impact.
Firing in a number of dangerous crosses and hitting the post, the Academy graduate looks ready to play more for Celtic over the coming weeks.
Ange Postecoglou won’t want to risk his fitness, but on this form there should be no concerns about unleashing him against Hibernian or Livingston over the next 7 days.
It’s fantastic to see him become an option again and with more match sharpness he’s only going to improve.
