With Celtic’s first Champions League qualifier against Sarajevo only three days away, thoughts will turn towards the team that Neil Lennon will select for the game.

You would imagine that he will select the players who were important for him in his spell as interim manager last season.

That means starts for the likes of Odsonne Edouard, Scott Brown, Callum McGregor and James Forrest. Also, it would not be a shock to see Scott Sinclair start the game.

Not always a first-pick

It is no secret that Sinclair is not always a first-choice player at Celtic. Indeed, under Lennon he was mostly on the bench.

However, in his three seasons at Celtic Sinclair has proven to be a very important player, scoring double figures each season.

Experience will be vital

He has the experience that is needed for what is bound to be a tough game in Sarajevo. Sinclair has done well for the Hoops in previous Champions League qualifiers.

It is all about getting a favourable result for the Hoops in Sarajevo to take into the second leg. For once, the performance has to take a back seat.

Sinclair has been at the heart of many good results for the Hoops in the last three seasons. Therefore, it makes sense to pick the player for the game.

He is just the player who can inspire the Hoops to victory in their first competitive game of the season.
