Celtic’s Olivier Ntcham started his first game since December in the recent derby against Rangers. The Hoops midfielder showed what the club had been missing with an all-action performance.
He was only denied giving the Hoops the lead thanks to a fine Allan McGregor save and generally turned in a fine performance in the 2-1 win.
It was no surprise to him tire in the second-half, and he was eventually replaced by Tom Rogic in the 64th minute.
Excellent in frantic derby
However, in his time on the pitch Ntcham was excellent, and he should start Wednesday night’s game against St Mirren.
He needs a run of games after such a long time out injured. So good was his performance against Rangers that he has earned the right to start against the Paisley side.
He will also be out to make out for his last trip to Paisley, where he was sent-off earlier this season in a 0-0 draw.
No shock team faded when he was replaced
Celtic look far more balanced in the middle of the part when Ntcham is in the side. It is no surprise that the team faded badly when Ntcham was taken off.
It will no doubt take another few games before Ntcham is completely back to his best. But the signs look good after his performance against Rangers.
He has been a key man for the Hoops before. If his levels of performances maintain, he will be so again.
