Former Celtic goalkeeper Packie Bonner has called on Neil Lennon to start Conor Hazard against Kilmarnock this afternoon.
Hazard made his debut for the club on Thursday against Lille, delivering an assured and confident performance between the sticks.
Bonner’s fellow BBC Sportsound pundit Michael Stewart has already called for him to be handed his first league start.
Now the former Bhoys goalie is adding his voice to the chorus, telling BBC Sport: “Conor has come in and why not give the young man a real chance now.
“I don’t think it’s a gamble putting him in on Sunday. It’s more of a gamble putting one of the other two back in.
“The games now coming up are really crucial for Neil. He can’t afford to lose any points.”
With Vasilis Barkas struggling this season, and Scott Bain far from being the answer, I don’t see why Lennon shouldn’t heed Bonner’s advice.
Hazard’s presence did appear to have a calming effect on the Bhoys backline vs the French side and we have to take any positives we can get right now.
We’re only an hour away from the manager’s team announcement so we’ll find out soon who he goes with.

It’s a massive decision though. As Bonner says, we simply must win every game in the Scottish Premiership for the foreseeable future if we’re to have any chance of winning ten-in-a-row.
Lennon has no room for error when it comes to team selection or tactics.
In other news, the manager has provided an injury update on James Forrest.
