Celtic need to take that and move on.

Yes, the pre-game hope would have been to rock up to Croatia’s capital and secure all three points, but Celtic’s point against Dinamo Zagreb is still valuable.

With two games remaining, it still leaves the door open for Brendan Rodgers to guide Celtic to a top-eight finish, but you suspect, maximum points will be needed against bottom-of-the-table Young Boys and away at Aston Villa.

Celtic’s game in Zagreb wasn’t a memorable one, the pace of the match was slow and not enough clear-cut chances were being created.

From a defensive aspect, both sides defended their penalty box really well and walked away with a deserved clean sheet.

But Pat Bonner sounded frustrated with the part Cameron Carter-Vickers was playing for Celtic on Tuesday night when he was trying to play out from the back.

Pat Bonner critical of Cameron Carter-Vickers’ passing during Celtic’s draw against Dinamo Zagreb

Carter-Vickers returned to the XI after he was rested for Celtic’s win against Hibernian over the weekend.

From the off, Bonner noticed that captain Callum McGregor was being man-marked and it caused issues with the team’s build-up.

The legendary goalkeeper noticed Carter-Vickers’ passes not finding its intended target and also how the movement ahead of him ‘wasn’t dynamic enough’, as he told BBC Radio Scotland.

“I would like to see a little bit more movement,” said Bonner. “Carter-Vickers is the one because McGregor is getting picked up. He is the one that’s stepping out from the back into that big space, but it almost hasn’t been effective that he steps in there.

“The movement ahead of him isn’t dynamic enough. If he passes the ball, it’s either blocked or broken up and they haven’t been able to create.”

Carter-Vickers’ stats for Celtic against Zagreb

The two players who made the most passes during the game were Carter-Vickers with 106 and his partner, Auston Trusty at 111.

That probably sums up where the game was at, in terms of the opposition being happy for the centre-backs to have the ball and just not allowing anything into the middle of the park.

Overall, it was a strong display from Carter-Vickers, with WhoScored rating his performance at 7.16.
