Celtic fans will have mixed emotions following their all-action Scottish Premiership clash against Aberdeen at Parkhead on Saturday.

On one hand, Celtic’s draw to Aberdeen will feel like a defeat because they let a two-goal lead slip, but on the other, they are still unbeaten and going strong in all competitions.

Take away Celtic’s horror Champions League defeat at Borussia Dortmund, for the most part, it has been plain sailing for the team this season.

But Aberdeen made things uncomfortable for the champions, especially in the second half and the manner in which they did it was a talking point.

After the break, Jimmy Thelin’s side attacked the Bhoys and it’s not something you see from the opposition too often, especially in Glasgow.

It has been a long time see the team on the other end played without fear and bravery at Parkhead, which is a credit to Celtic because it proves the stranglehold they have on the domestic circuit.

Pat Bonner thinks ‘some’ Celtic fans will be ‘delighted’ by Aberdeen’s attacking approach

Pat Bonner was asked an interesting question about Aberdeen’s attacking approach and whether it would delight his old club.

The legendary goalkeeper explained on the Scottish Football Podcast that whilst ‘some’ fans would side that way, the rest are going to be frustrated by the dropped points.

“Some of them will and some of them want their team to win, of course,” said Bonner. “They will be disappointed they lost a two-goal lead, that’s for sure.

“But at the end, they kept going, going and going and going. Aberdeen couldn’t get further back. They were almost pinned back on their goal line, at times. They could have won it Celtic. A big penalty shout right on the line. It couldn’t be any closer.

“The reaction also from the Celtic fans here when the goal was disallowed for Aberdeen was quite incredible. There were some blocks in their own penalty box and try to spur their team on.”

Barry Robson on Aberdeen ‘never’ being able to control a match at Celtic

Celtic have to now deem Aberdeen as their title challengers, with the duo level on points after eight matches.

The Dons deserve the respect, even if Barry Robson wanted to put a sense of reality on the occasion with his post-match analysis.

Robson feels, no matter what happens, Aberdeen would ‘never” control a match at Celtic, despite this new-found approach, as he told Sportscene.

“You will never control it, as a team like Aberdeen going there,” said Robson. “You are never going to go to get 60% possession, it’s never going to happen.

“But how aggressive are you in the transition? Can you pick the right moments and expose them? And Aberdeen did it perfectly.”
