The ground staff at Bodo/Glimt are putting in a brilliant shift to ensure this evening’s match against Celtic goes ahead.
There’s been significant snowfall at the Aspmyra Stadium over the last 24 hours, though the UEFA Europa Conference League encounter has never been in doubt.
BT Sport reporter Connie McLaughlin posted a photo on Twitter of the pitch blanketed in snow less than an hour ago, again stressing that it would be taken care of before kick-off in a couple of hours.
And it has in fact been swiftly dealt with. Scottish Sun reporter Derek McGregor posted a photo on the social media site in the last few minutes showing how quickly and efficiently they have managed to clear the surface.
It’s understandable why they use an artificial surface in this context. If this is normal then a non-grass surface will make the whole process far easier to deal with.
The important thing is that the snow should play a minimal part in tonight’s fixture. In fact, the conditions look decent in Bodo.
The weather forecast suggests temperatures will be just below freezing with a bit of a windchill. It’s nothing too far from what the Bhoys experience in Scotland.
Ange Postecoglou has already played down the conditions as a reason to write off Celtic from overcoming a 3-1 deficit. He doesn’t see the weather as that influential, simply a challenge to overcome.
The Bhoys boss will be going full pelt with a strong eleven tonight to get the job done. If we can come out with intent and grab an early goal, who knows what could happen?
In other news, English Premier League boss credits Celtic for player development.
