Ange Postecoglou has named his first and second Celtic XI for our first pre-season clash against Sheffield Wednesday, as per the club’s official website.
The two XIs are as follows:
First XI – Barkas, Montgomery, Murray, Welsh, Ralston, Soro, McInroy, Shaw, Henderson, Moffat, Ajeti
Second XI – Bain; O’Connor, Murray, Hjelde, McPherson, Connell, Otoo, Robertson, Afolabi, Coffey, Edouard.
As you would expect for a first pre-season game, the Celtic team has a youthful feel to it.
It’s great to get the chance to see Liam Shaw in particular, one of two new summer signings from Wednesday. Whilst it’s important not to expect a world-beating performance today, it’s a boost for fans to see him feature.
Elsewhere, it’s youth galore. Adam Montgomery, Dane Murray, Kerr McInroy, and Owen Moffat all make appearances after coming up from the youth ranks. Albian Ajeti, meanwhile, will be looking for a fresh start this season as he starts up top as captain. The second XI has yet more youth representation too.
The game will be split into three 30-minute periods. It will be interesting to see when the second XI is introduced.
Even if it is the first pre-season game of the campaign, there will be plenty looking to catch the eye.
Broadcast Details
Today’s match is free to watch on the club’s Pass to Paradise service for season-ticket holders.
Celtic TV subscribers will also be able to tune in and watch the game live. Kickoff is at 3pm.
