Potential Tierney absence leaves Lennon with dilemma to resolve

If there is one player that Celtic would not want to miss the upcoming Glasgow derby against Rangers it’s Kieran Tierney.

Unfortunately for the Hoops, the player could miss the game, as the Scottish Sun has disclosed that the player has picked up a calf injury on international duty.

Working around the clock

The Celtic medical staff will be working around the clock to make sure that Tierney is available for the game. As if he is out, Neil Lennon will be left with a dilemma.

He will have to play either Jonny Hayes or Emilio Izaguirre at left-back. Or he could perhaps move to three at the back.

A mystery to solve

It is a mystery as to who Lennon would choose to play in the position. Hayes is not a natural left-back, but has played more recently for the Hoops than Izaguirre has.

Izaguirre has just returned from injury, but has been out of action for weeks with a knee injury.

If a prediction were to be made, Lennon might edge towards Izaguirre. He is of course familiar with the player, and will have confidence that he will be able to cope with the pressure of the game.

Of course, all these issues will be dealt with should Tierney be fit. Lennon will be desperately hoping that Tierney shakes off his injury in time for the game.
