Celtic travel to St Johnstone today, looking to progress in the league.

After losing 3-1 away at Red Bull Salzburg on Thursday, Brendan Rodgers’ men are hoping to bounce back.

A win could take them up to fourth place, while a heavy win would see them lifted to third place.

Here is the starting XI we believe Rodgers might try out today.

Goalkeeper

Craig Gordon is the undisputed number one goalkeeper option.

Defence

Despite receiving criticism from fans, Mikael Lustig is likely to remain at right-back as Rodgers quite likes him.

Kieran Tierney will start at left-back with Dedryck Boyata pencilled in at centre-half.

But Boyata’s central defensive partner is far from decided.

Jack Hendry played alongside the Belgian in midweek and is likely to retain his place, despite Jozo Simunovic pushing for a start.

Central midfield

In the absence of Scott Brown, Youssouf Mulumbu should keep his place in the side.

He will partner Frenchman Olivier Ntcham in the middle of the park.

Attacking midfield

James Forrest should continue on the right, despite receiving a red card against RB Salzburg.

Tom Rogic could be recalled in central attacking midfield to replace Callum McGregor, while Scott Sinclair may be given a chance to shine on the left.

Striker

It is a tough call between Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths. Edouard scored in the week, but we think Rodgers will go with Griffiths, who is in form in the league.

Here is the team, in a 4-2-3-1 formation, we expect Celtic to play.
